چکیده

In complex distributed environments, it is important to achieve high degree of machine-to-machine interaction, not only on a functional, but on a semantic level. Therefore, we propose the NOMADS (Networks of Mobile Adaptive Dependable Systems) Republic, a vision of the future community open to all interested hardware and software entities, and based on adaptive and, if necessary, composable services. One needs very little to become citizen of this Republic: one needs to know how to communicate and to discover, provide and/or use NOMADS services, in an infrastructure that guarantees three basic properties: mobility, adaptivity and dependability. We concentrate on NOMADS services which could potentially provide an unprecedented level of highly adaptive and semantic collaboration. The idea is to hide the complexity of underlying infrastructure from the users, showing only the services they can invoke. This approach promises seamless interoperation. We provide a way to discover not only what services can collaborate with each other on the functional basis, but rather on the semantic basis, meaning which service compositions can produce useful results. This way we are able to offer new services not originally programmed.

Drilling down on Smart Manufacturing -- Enabling Composable Apps

Manufacturing software services provisioned as unbundled "apps" could be significantly more flexible and less expensive to use than the current monolithic manufacturing applications. However, integrating such heterogeneous apps is not a trivial job. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has initiated a research and development program to advance science and engineering towards t...

Design of Composable Proxy Filters for Heterogeneous Mobile Computing

RAPIDware is a collection of software design techniques for constructing adaptive middleware to support collaborative computing. This paper describes an experimental study in the design of adaptive proxy services for resource-limited mobile hosts. The approach is based on detachable Java I/O streams, which enable proxy filters and transcoders to be dynamically inserted, deleted, and reordered o...

Property Analysis of Composable Web Services

Web services are basic components constructing a flexible business process software. By composing multiple Web services, a complicated business process across organization and departments can be formed. This paper present a formal model of composable Web services: composed service process nets (CSPNs). Properties of Composable Web services are analyzed based on CSPNs. The relation between a CSP...

Self-healing in payment switches with a focus on failure detection using State Ma- chine-based approaches

Composition, change and complexity have attracted ev- eryone’s attention towards Self-Adaptive systems. These systems, inspired by the human body, are capable of adapting to changes in the inner and outer environment. The main objective of this study is to achieve a more con- venient availability for e-banking services in the payment switch, using self-healing systems and focusing on the failur...
